Hunting for Jobs of an Attorney is not an Easy Task

You've graduated law school and passed the board exam and now you're excited to get a job as an attorney. You can't wait to serve justice any way you can. However, like most recent law school graduates, the excitement soon wanes when it's revealed that nobody's hiring for new attorneys. It soon becomes apparent that hunting for a job as an attorney is not an easy task. And it's going to take seeing a lot of attorney headhunter types to actually land the job you're looking for.

The first thing you're going to want to do to maximize your chance for finding a job is to get a nice resume, a nice suit and practice what you're going to say when you finally sit down to meet a headhunter. Your resume is crucial. It's going to state all of your experience, education, awards, society's that may be pertinent, etc. Don't worry if you don't have attorney experience. Most new attorneys don't. However, you can list any internships you may have participated in, or you can simply state that you're a new graduate looking to get in on the ground floor of this time honored profession.

If you don't know how to write a resume, get someone to write it for you. Either get a friend or loved one to write it or pay a service to write it for you. You don't want to take any chances when it comes to whether or not you actually get the job. Other than your resume, you'll also want a cover letter. A cover letter explains to the attorney headhunter why you want the job and it reveals a little bit about your tenacity and your personality. Make sure your resume and your cover letter are tailored specifically for the firm you're targeting. Never make them generic. If the headhunter thinks you're just giving anyone your resume, you may end up at the bottom of the slush pile.

Finally, get a good suit and make sure you begin thinking like an attorney. You'll want to see that attorney headhunter while giving off the air that you're completely confident in your abilities. You'll want that headhunter to take one look at you and know that you're made to be an attorney. That's how you're going to separate yourself from all the other new attorneys out there and that's how you're going to land that dream job.

Sure, finding a job as an attorney is difficult but it's not impossible. All it takes is a little preparation, a lot of confidence and the persistence to never give up even when an attorney headhunter tells you you're not what he or she is looking for. There are many other headhunters out there. As long as you adhere to the above recommendations, one of them is bound to give you the job.
